It is with deep regret that we report the untimely death on Thursday, 13th December, 2001 of Professor Christopher Silagy.  Chris was the Menzies Scholar in Medicine for 1991.  He took an active interest in the work of the Menzies Foundation and the Menzies Memorial Scholars Alumni Association and will be sadly missed.  At the time of his death he was Director of the Monash Institute of Health Services Research.

The Menzies Foundation and the Menzies Memorial Scholars Association extend sympathy to his wife Jane and sons Andrew, Michael, Nick and Ben.

A celebration of Chris' life and achievements was held at the Melbourne Museum on Tuesday, 12 February 2002.  Speakers at the service included Sir Iain Chalmers, Director of the UK Cochrane Centre, Professor Nick Saunders, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at Monash University, and Chris' brother, Geoffrey Silagy.
