Redefining Leadership in the Modern Era: Menzies Foundation embark on journey with Economist Impact

Fostering a more collaborative and effective leadership paradigm both in Australia and Asia, Menzies Foundation proudly unveils its engagement with Economist Impact, an initiative aimed at exploring traditional notions of leadership across sectors.

Under the banner of “Learning, Communicating, and the End of the Autocratic Leader,” this work seeks to explore and promote a new era of leadership characterised by connectivity, adaptability, and collective action. In an age where remote work and digital communication have bridged the gap between leaders and employees, traditional hierarchical structures are giving way to more inclusive and agile leadership models.

This collaboration comes at a crucial juncture as organisations grapple with unprecedented challenges ranging from environmental sustainability to technological disruption. By harnessing the power of collective leadership, businesses, governments, and NGOs can navigate these complexities more effectively and drive positive change on a global scale.

The engagement between Economist Impact and Menzies Foundation will progress through three transformative phases.

Initially, Economist Impact will conduct a comprehensive scoping program to grasp the evolving nature of leadership across various sectors. This phase involves exploring new leadership models, regional variations in leadership styles, and the impact of factors like remote work and technology. Insights gathered through social listening and expert interviews will shape the future trajectory of leadership.

Building on these insights, the work will focus on identifying the key characteristics of effective leadership amidst evolving challenges. Extensive desk research and expert roundtables will inform the development of a framework to measure and evaluate leadership traits across different sectors. The outcome will include diverse written and multimedia content aimed at informing and inspiring business professionals, policymakers, and society.

In the final phase, Economist Impact and Menzies Foundation will leverage the developed framework to compare and rank leadership in corporate, government, and NGO sectors globally. Through benchmarking models or scorecards, the partnership aims to offer actionable insights for internal strategies and external amplification, thereby fostering continuous improvement in leadership practices worldwide.

“We believe that by embracing collective leadership, organisations can unleash the full potential of their teams and drive meaningful impact in an increasingly complex world. Together with Economist Impact, we are committed to shaping a future where leadership is synonymous with collaboration, adaptability, and inclusivity.”
