Pivot to Purpose
Increasingly our work recognises the importance of purpose as an anchor for any leadership journey. Purpose creates meaning, offers a sense of direction, helps identify goals and actions that encourage citizens to contribute to the ‘greater good’.
‘Purpose’ is the anchor from which to build 21st century leadership attributes. It is the pillar that supports leaders to become more entrepreneurial, adaptive, resilient, and emphatic as the manage the challenges of an increasingly complex, global, tribal, and digitized world.
Our ambition is founded on the legacy of Sir Robert Menzies, whose personal attributes of integrity, resilience, humanity, and strong values underpinned his commitment to service. In Sir John Bunting’s words: “His (Menzies) idea of public was public service at the highest level.”
Sir Robert Menzies vision for Australia focused on the freedom and dignity of man. He strongly believed that all Australians should have the opportunity: ‘To work, to think, to speak, to choose to be ambitious, to be independent, to be industrious, to acquire skill and to seek reward’. Enlightened citizenship was founded on a firmly held belief in the importance of supporting individual achievement, the family and personal endeavor.’
These principles lie at the heart of the Foundation’s work.
